Table for a Lake House

I had a client call who just bought a lake house. She is decorating in vintage, recycled style. My specialty. She wanted to find a square table for her kitchen. You know, the kind of table..... where everyone comes in wet from water-skiing, and they want to plop down and eat. Probably hamburgers, off the grill and then homemade ice-cream.... then later, everyone sits around the table and plays some fun card game....cause it's summer and your just kickin it at the lake with all your favorite peeps......Gosh, I wanna be there!!!!! Ok, back to the table.   I say to her " Hey, I have some barn wood, and pallet wood and old table legs....why don't we just throw one together! I meant, hubby can throw it together, and I will finish it. I have had these great table legs for at least 7 or 8 years, aging really nicely out in the shed.,. The wood for the top came out of a horse stall, it is tongue and groove. The apron is pallet wood. After much sanding of the legs, that were black, some cream paint, more sanding. Some wax sealer for the top, just to bring out the wood's own color and beauty.....We have a table for the lake! Great table for a vacation home. You can't mess it up. It is already full of imperfections, which just make it so much better and unique! If she wanted to be really radical, she could let people sign the table top, when they come to visit. It could be like one of those tables at a vacation restaurant that everyone signs....Could be fun!
Enjoy!

getting started

this is where I sand for hours.....

The tabletop is very interesting. The boards look like tongue and groove. Did you glue the boards to each other then attach it to the apron?
