Desperate for a Date.....

It is Friday! Yay! Raise your hand, if you are DONE with this week! Me!! I had to go to the fabric store today. I am working on a dining room table and chairs re-do, it is time to get the fabric in place, for the chairs. Country hubby, who is usually working, had the day off to go with me. It was like a date! In the middle of the day! Which is great, cause we are never without kids and are schedules keep us separate, quite often. So, I'm getting my chores done, and getting to hang with a pretty cool guy! Not a bad end to the week.....I will take what I can get, people.....We went for Mexican after the fabric store and had just enough time to be back at the carpool line, romantic huh?  I haven't been to Lewis and Sharon (Atlanta- fabric store) in a long while. I enjoyed all that I saw, found what I wanted and got the heck out, so we could have some adult conversation and good food, before our car loaded with little people again.... I did see some cool fabric, here is a little eye candy for ya.....Enjoy and have a great weekend. I hope you get to relax!!!

This is a really hip, trendy Designer here in ATL, I asked if I could take his pic...
JK!! That is Country Hubby!!! Pretty Cute, I think...

Just a pretty neutral....

this was gorgeous in person...lacey crewel work woven on top of linen...would love this on a headboard! or a chair!

Chocolatte!!!

OK, I have a few kids and I am falling behind in mom duties. Some have been sick, with stomach virus. Even though, I have been knee-deep in it, I now have a furious, head cold. I'm trying to get laundry caught up, bathrooms bleached down, make-up school- work finished, etc....It is a good thing I work for myself, I'd be fired by now.....I just wanted to show you, a little table I found, that I gave a re-do back in the fall. I found it at an estate sale-type place. It is oak. It was stained, yellowy-orangey, very unlovable....I only had a fuzzy," before" cell phone pic, but trust me, you woulda hated it...It was in desperate need of somethin....I wanted to be a little different, so, I think it is kinda urban chic....I did a chocolate, bold stripe on a creamy white. It is a drop leaf table, very solid, well made...I think it is darn cute now, would be great in a funky setting with some bold prints, etc.. contact me if ya want it and are local Atlanta......Here it is, Chocolatte...Enjoy!

Ignore the old chair beside, I'm getting ready to rip it down and recover....
Me, ....I think I can do it....I'm psyching myself up for it, I will keep ya posted

Could be beachy!!! or Lakey....

cute in a bedroom too!!

Barn Red and a Lil English Charm...

Hey People! I have been working hard on her, and here she is.....my latest recycle. I sure do love her, boo hoo, but she has to go. She is ready to go to a good, and loving home. I found this china cabinet on craig's list. The minute I saw her, I knew, she was something special. I checked out the make of furniture, and it is a good one! She is very well-made, but, was very neglected. Now, she is a beauty queen.  She wanted to wear red, so I found a great, "barn red",  did a little demolition, a little redesign, and she is fabulous! A touch of English country, I think!  Enjoy, and if you want her, contact me at alittlecountryhouse@gmail.com! or, if you have a piece of furniture you hate, but want to love, I can face-lift it for you! Love!

Hello Lovely!

You are a little depressing...we need to do some rehab...

The glass shelves were missing, as were some doors, so I decided to rip the front off and make her "open"
I like tearing it down!!

this is working....we will do wood shelves for more rustic feel...
so satisfying to get that first coat on!!!

Lady in Red.....(cheesy 80's song...)

Guess what? there is a silver drawer, fancy pants! so I papered over it, cute huh?
a lil surprise when you peek inside!

I likey :)

Mr. Pheasant was 1.99 at the goodwill...Love him.  Let's have a spot of tea, shall we???
(talking in a British accent)

look at all the room inside for your goodies!!

worn brass, egg shaped knobs

this is my own mix of paints, but I used Annie Sloan dark wax to age the whole thing...

A Sweet Encouragement

A Very sweet lady, Lynda, at Miss Tori's Treasures, left a comment to me about a piece of furniture I did, and said she wanted me to participate in the Leibster Award,  She gave it to me, and now, I am to pick 5 people and give it to them. Here is her link:
http://misstoristreasures.blogspot.com/
We certainly can all use a little encouragement, yes?
This Award is given to bloggers who have less than 200 followers, all in the spirit of fostering new connections.

Leibster is German & means ‘dearest’ or ‘beloved’ but it can also mean ‘favorite’ & the idea of the Leibster award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers and I decided that I should definitely write a post about it & pass the award on to 5 or more bloggers.

The Rules are:

1. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.

2. Reveal your top 5 picks for the award and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Post the award on your blog.

4. Bask in the love from the most supportive people on the blogsphere – other bloggers.

5. And, best of all – have fun and spread the love.

I am awarding the Liebster Blog Award to the following blogs.
I hope you’ll visit them and say Hello!

I love these blogs for different reasons. Not everything I read, or connect with is about home decor. Some, are just neat people who live all over the globe. A lady in Scotland raising little ones and just everyday stuff,  A missionary couple in Thailand spreading the Gospel and caring for their little girl. A lady from Greece who is just sweet and sentimental, My sisters, who like me, are striking out to create a business, and a Girl from Kentucky who loves to cook, and makes oustanding recipes that send me into a tailspin of delight!! ENJOY!!

Good Will Hunting

From time to time, I wander into Good Will. Sometimes you find a gem, but, you gotta look. You gotta be consistent too, or you miss out. I found this cabinet for $10.00, that's right.....$10.00!!!! I said yeah, baby!  It is REAL wood too!  No particle board, but wood!!  Hubby wants to build a bookshelf upstairs for the kids, but I thought this would be perfect for now. It is huge inside, and all their books and games fit inside, just fine, out of sight!!!  I never know, how I am going to paint a piece. What color, and whether to distress or not, what hardware, etc... I made some chalk paint with unsanded tile grout, in an off white color. I have been using it on some other peices. The paint turned out very well, very much like ASCP.  I already had some cute knobs (black iron, egg shaped knobs) left over from another project. So, Saturday I went to work on it, I decided to really distress it. Sometimes, I distress a little, sometimes not at all, but this was like therapy....I went to town with my sander, and loved it!!! Very old, chippy looking.  Very Farmhouse Chic.....

On another note, The Nester  wanted us to think about HOME goals for 2012.  Me, being a mom to 5, have a house in desperate need of some work, inside and out. Having given the house over to my little ones, the past 9 years, I am now ready to reclaim some spaces.
Fresh paint, new carpet in some rooms, refinishing some cabinets, working on the back deck, repair the ceiling in kitchen, and the list goes on....these are in no particular order, but I will get them into some kind of order of importance.  I will share them, as I get them checked off my list. It will take longer than 2012, that I guarantee!! Hopefully, my furniture flipping business will help finance my home repair endeavors....God willing..... Enjoy Peeps!
Love!

Hideous....right?

covering up the hideousness...

I love how big it is..lot of storage!!

Now, your talkin....

Did you come out of an old, turn of the century farmhouse?
No, I came from a thrift store!!!

I am a lover of furniture hardware!!!

Styling isn't my strong suit, and I have a" point and shoot" camera, but I think you get the story!!
Hee Haw Yall!
